We want you to continue making the most of your No Claims Discount. If you haven’t been insured with us within the last two years and have held insurance with any other company in this time then you will need to send us a copy of your no claims bonus.

It’s easy to send it to us! Proof of your no claims can be:

  • Scanned or photographed and emailed to us at [email protected]
  • Posted to: Safeguard Insurance, Woodside House, 261 Low Lane, Horsforth, Leeds, LS18 5NY

What is a No Claims Bonus?

The terms No Claim Discount and No Claims Bonus are often referred to have the same meaning, however there is a slight difference:

  • No Claims Bonus is the number of years you have earned without having claimed on your car insurance policy.
  • No Claims Discount is the amount of any discount given on your insurance premium as a result of the number of years No Claims Bonus you have, this will vary by insurer.

Transferring your No Claims Bonus to Safeguard?

In order for Safeguard to accept your No Claims Bonus, it must have been earned on a UK private car, motorhome or campervan insurance policy that was active within the last two years, in the name of the policyholder, and currently not in use on any other policy.

A ‘claims history’ from a classic car, motorbike or motor trade policy cannot be accepted as proof of ‘earned’ No Claims Bonus, and a No Claims Bonus earned in a foreign country cannot be accepted.

If you've told us your No Claims Bonus isn't moving

To qualify for ‘mirrored discount’ you must have a No Claims Bonus currently earned in the name of the policyholder on a UK private car, company car, commercial, fleet or Motability policy (as leaseholder only), or on another motorhome or campervan.

A ‘claims history’ from a classic car, motorbike or motor trade policy cannot be accepted as proof of ‘mirrored’ No Claims Bonus, and a No Claims Bonus earned in a foreign country cannot be accepted.

Where can I find proof of my no claims?

You can normally find your stated no claims years on your car or motorhome renewal notice, or you can also request it from your previous insurer. They will normally send you a letter or email stating the total number of No Claims Bonus years that you have.

As more insurers move online, you may have this provided by email, or find it in a secure online account. You can forward this on as a PDF or email. (The information contained in the documents must be clear and legible.)

What do I need to provide as proof?

In most instances, you’ll find proof of your No Claims Bonus in the renewal notice you get from your previous insurer – just simply send it in to us and we will do the rest.
