People need to realise the benefits of taking out insurance on holiday, it has been suggested.
Stephen Ebbett, spokesperson at Protect Your Bubble, suggested that motorhome insurance is simply not enough for those heading overseas.
"There will always be a percentage of people who take the risk of travelling without insurance, but when policies for a week's holiday can be secured for less than £5 it is clearly prudent to cover yourself," the expert explained.
He added that for people taking more than two holidays a year, selecting an annual policy is likely to offer the best value for money.
A recent survey conducted by the company found that despite a recent spate of package holiday firms collapsing, one in four British holidaymakers are still going overseas without proper insurance cover.
The most frequent mishaps abroad include lost luggage, sunburn, injuries, food poisoning and theft of valuable possessions, it discovered.
