A stylish motorhome which is based on a Fiat diesel van has scooped the top accolade at the recent 2010 Motorhome of the Year awards.
The Knaus Sky TI 650 MF was named as the winner in both the Best Motorhome and Best Fixed Bed Coachbuild categories at the inaugural awards, held at the Hoo Hotel in Luton.
Featuring a Fiat Ducato 2.3 litre turbo diesel engine, the Knaus Sky TI 650 MF is 6.99 metres in length, 2.32 metres in width and 2.75 metres high.
If you want to get your hands on one of the award winning motor homes then you'll need a spare £52,995. Also, at present only two dealers in the UK are licensed to sell the German manufactured vehicles –Southdown Motorcaravans in Hampshire and Lowdhams, who have dealerships in Nottingham and Huddersfield.
Award judge Rachel Stothert, who is also deputy editor of Motorhome Monthly magazine, said the Knaus Sky TI 650 is a “A great German motorhome which ticks the boxes.”
Dave Hurrell, road test editor for the magazine, added: “The epitome of a French bed low profile layout, this Sky adds bags of style and practicality.”
Other winners at the glittering ceremony include CMC Reimo Multi-Style LWB, which took the Campervan of the year award. The Auto-Sleeper Windrush was named as High-Top Campervan of the Year, while the Laika Kreos 7009 took the top spot in the Luxury Coachbuilt Motorhome of the Year category.
But while all of the motorhomes which performed well at the awards will set you back a pretty penny, their costs are small fry in comparison to the eleMMent palazzo from Austrian luxury brand Marchi Mobile.
The super-cool motorhome has a 430 sq ft interior, a master bedroom, a bar and a pop-up roof terrace. It will set you back an eye-watering minimum of £1.9 million.
