Taking a break in a caravan or motorhome is a great way to learn new things about this great country we inhabit.
For many of us, the mountains are things we associate with the French Alps or the Himalayas in Nepal and sandy beaches make us thinks of trips to Spain or the Greek isles.
But those things can be seen right here in the United Kingdom.
Indeed, Peter Hampson, chief executive at British Destinations, believes that since people started to holiday at home more since the credit crunch took hold in late 2008, people have become more culturally aware of the great sights Britain has to offer.
"Those that didn't holiday in the UK in the past, are almost universally astounded by what they have found and are very happy with it," he said.
"What has happened is that those families who had traditionally just done nothing else but holiday abroad have suddenly discovered you don't have to go 800 miles away to find mountains, or do X, Y and Z.
"If you want to go walking in mountains, or have a nice family holiday in the summer on the beach, you can do it in England."
And if it's sand between your toes that you want then Yahoo published a handy guide to the top ten beaches in Britain last year.
In no particular order it included; Holkham in Norfolk, West Wittering in West Sussex, Abereiddi Blue Lagoon in Pembrokeshire, Holy Island in Northumberland, Bournemouth (a favourite for the older generation), North Devon's Croyde Bay, Great Bay on the Isle of Scilly, Blackpool, Sinclair's Bay in Scotland and Cornwall's Porthcurno.
All of which, in their own unique way, help to put the 'Great' in Great Britain and have caravan and camping sites in close proximity.
