Motorhome insurance customers are becoming more inclined to explore beyond the tourist hotspots, a travel expert has said.
Although most of the direct flights stop off in Tokyo, there are so many other areas to head to, noted Kylie Clark, senior PR and marketing manager for the Japan National Tourism Organisation.
"As Japan's reputation as a fantastic holiday destination grows, we are seeing increasing numbers of people explore further afield, including to Hiroshima to see the Peace Park, Hokkaido and Nagano for skiing," she continued.
Ms Clark highlighted that Okinawa is also a firm favourite with honeymooners heading to the country.
Recent figures from British Airways show that Japan was listed seventh in the airline's top ten destinations for 2011, with Marrakech, San Diego and New York also ranking highly.
Chief executive officer Willie Walsh said that 24-hour destinations such as Japan are proving particularly popular with long-haul holidaymakers at the moment.
