One county is looking to build on the success of 2009 over the next 12 months by welcoming yet more visitors.
Gary Verity, chief executive officer at Welcome to Yorkshire, revealed that visitor attractions in the region fared well last year - a trend which looks set to continue.
"The latest stats from Visit England for last summer's visitors show that trips to Yorkshire grew by 35 per cent, the fastest growing region in the UK," he revealed.
This puts Yorkshire well ahead of other areas of England, Mr Verity claimed, which on average saw a growth rate of around 15 per cent.
Investment in Yorkshire has been well spent, as the county has contributed to the UK economy over the past year, he added.
A third of Brits are likely to take one holiday in 2010, while 21 per cent are likely to take three or more vacations, travelsupermarket.com recently found.
