There are a number of top events which attract people to Cumbria every year, it has been said.
Nicola Hewitson, spokesperson for Cumbria Tourism, revealed how even new events are proving to be getting bigger and better each year.
"Well-established events such as Grasmere Sports and Show, the Festival of Fools at Muncaster, Keswick Jazz Festival and Cumberland County Show continue to draw crowds," she claimed.
Meanwhile, the likes of Lakes Alive and Mintfest are making their mark and bringing more people to the region, Ms Hewitson suggested.
Cumbria Tourism recently announced that a new 12-part TV series is being tipped to add a timely boost to tourism in Cumbria in the official countdown to the 2010 holiday season.
It looks at holidays at home, the importance of tourism to Cumbria and how it affects the day to day lives of hoteliers, farmers, attraction owners and locals.
